Wickedy wigity wack!

Wikkid, innit!

Apart from snotter, yesterday seems to have been a bit of an Ibiza DJ day for Marcail.  Aside from wandering around the house and garden on a photo shoot inspired by the James Blunt “Same Mistake” video, she got into the swing of it and threw some great shapes for the club dance floor, innit.

The last two days or so have been a lot better for us, thank goodness.  I don’t know if it has been colic, or if we’ve just not been effective enough and clearing windContinue reading

It’s been a while

There really don’t seem to be enough hours in the day to do a job, have a baby, and write a blog.  If I was a woman then I could multi-task, of course, but I’m not so I just get grumpy if I try!  A lot has happened in a week though and Marcail is really coming on as a little personality in her own right.

This blog won’t write itself

Three Weeks Today!

It’s been a while, I’m afraid, since I wrote anything.  It just seems like time flies by at the moment with barely a minute to actually do anything, let alone copy images off the camera, resize them and write a blog post.  Over the weekend Marcail had a bit of an unsettled period, so we didn’t get a lot of sleep.  Says he.  I get a great sleepWhat a beauty she’s becoming compared to what Debs manages between feeding and being an attentive mother.  Saturday and Sunday we we trying to catch up on rest a bit, so we slept in till 11am both days.  Whilst that was bliss, don’t get me wrong, it’s still no substitute for getting some proper sleep in for the rest of the time.  Last night we were in bed to go to sleep by a quarter to nine.  I haven’t been in bed that early since I was seven!  Top Gear hadn’t even finished!  Alas, it was to no avail as madam decided nobody in this house should sleep until at least quarter to eleven!Continue reading

Days 14 & 15: Where’s the daddy?

Back to work.  Like I said the other day, I had quite a bit of trepidation about going back to the office.  Not the normal end of holiday feeling, something different that I can’t really describe.  It was really like a deep desire not to leave the comfort and routine of my new family, but, need must…Continue reading

Day Thirteen: Visiting, it’s non stop…

Off to Peebles today to see Granny and a whole load of other people.  After a long discussion, we decided not to call Pickfords but to handle the removal of royal court for the day ourselves, a decision which we think was largely correct [well we would say that because I’m nearly as stubborn as Debs is], even if we’re not entirely convinced.  Quite surprisingly we were only about 20 mins late arriving (see I told you we were getting this parent thing licked) and even better, we were slightly less late than everyone else.Continue reading

Day Twelve: Al fresco dining – and more pooping

It was actually a really nice day, not too promising to look at early on, but the sky cleared and the sun came out by the time we were out for a walk.  So, wondering whether the washing would be dry or rewashed when we got back we headed off for a coastal potter around the Dalmeny Estate.  The drive to the house seemed to be closed, so we went round and parked at South Queensferry.  From there you can walk (under the Forth Bridge) in to the estate along the coast.Continue reading

Day Eleven: It’s getting interesting out there

Marcail has been coming on in leaps and bounds from a cognitive perspective over the last couple of days.  She started to find her eyes, maybe three days ago and along with that has been getting more interested in the world outside her own body.  The first thing, after looking up into our faces, was looking at her high contrast mobile which she got from the Drs. Schleubledeuble.Continue reading

Day Nine: Baby broiler

It’s not all a bed of roses being a new parent.  It’s damned hard some of the time and there are pitfalls around every corner.  After a day in the house, the three grown ups all had a bit of cabin fever, so we decided to head out into the big wide world with the pram and get a breath.  The weather was pretty dreich and unsettled, heavy showers a lot of the time, overcast and generally not a day that was terribly promising.
