OK, that’s enough now.

Friday it didn’t rain.  It’s not pleasant refreshing outbursts either. Not 10 minutes and it’s done. No.

How much more do we have to endure? Summer? Please?

Where does it all come from?

It’s supposed to be summer. In fact it has been raining constantly for weeks. Really, apart from a couple of days in the last month it has been significantly wet every day.

Right now I’m lying in bed and there are great big heavy gobs of rain banging on the window. For heavens sake, it’s JUNE. Unreal.

Goggle box

imageTelly is the new black. Munchkin is developing an increasing repertoire of programmes that she needs to keep up with!

Most of them are watched from the closest possible geographic location. It’s a mystery she can make anything out with the foreshortening.

All done bar the shouting.

Blog up and running. Satisfactory theme installed; plenty of tweaking to go, but it supports the functionality I want just now. WPTouch installed to make reading on mobile less difficult. xml-rpc turned on and mobile client hooking in.

The more I dig around, the more logical it seems to move the whole site onto WordPress. With pages and hierarchical menus, there seems to be little reason not to.  Since we’re in for ANOTHER wet weekend, there could be some fiddling with html import…

Even tracked down and installed a blogging app for Nokia’s bastard child, Maemo 5. That’s up and running on the Mrs’ n900, so she can upload photos and blog for the Canadians.

That’s the biggest thing about self hosting. Trying to use as many of the levers as possible, to lower the barrier to posting as for as possible. Hopefully now flogging blogging Munchkin will become as easy as updating Facebook, bitch!

Woo Hoo

That’s it.  It was as simple as using the RSS importer instead of the WordPress importer.  All up and running with the previous posts.  Fantastic.  Now to the business of getting it to look and function how I want and generally pimping the blog.

WordPress to go

That seems to be mobile blogging up and going. Raison numero uno for upgrading from the managed 1and1 blog.

Half way there

Moved to a new installation, and now trying to import the old blog.  Trouble is 1and1 blog exported this as an xml file and WordPress 3.1 doesn’t seem to recognise it.  It will only take .wxr at the moment.  I’ll get there.
