We went out for a walk in the park this afternoon with Marcail and Doglet. Debs had commented after one of her new mums type events recently that someone had a baby about Marcail’s age, who was able to face forward in the BabyBjörn carrier. So it was that we went up the park with Marcail facing front, watching the whole world roll towards her for the first time.
She seemed to be transfixed by the whole thing, looking around intently at all the new stuff she could see. I had a look up close to her in the park and she almost looked like she was overloading with the stimulus. Sort of looking around in a slightly frantic, slightly overwhelmed sort of a way. Within about 5 minutes of getting back in the house she was out so cold I took her cardigan off, man handled her and put her down on the “oh, no, it’s covered in acid and buuuuuurns” mattress without so much as a whiffle.
Before the walk, she was a real chatterbox. I took a half day from work so we could go and see our IFA (Independent Financial Adviser) about possible mortgages. Turns out in the current market he’s not got a hope of bettering the deals that we have already been offered on line. But that’s beside this particular point. Which is, I’m not usually at home during the day when she’s most active. So it was doubly great today. Not only was she wide awake and happy, but cooing away making some really extended sounds. Smiling seemed to be the order of the day today too. She’s just so lovely. Being a parent is starting to have more lovely, delightful moments than soul searching screaming moments.
